Piece Title : Death of a star

Medium: Acrylic

Size: 1 m x 1 m

Year: 2025

Series:  Galactic Whispers

About the piece: Three colours, violet, metallic blue and white - but over a base of fuscia, green and white and gold.  I sometimes do very colourful bases when I start painting and then just decide that it really needs something very different.  This piece was just that.  I have always been fascinated by starry nights – in fact it is one of my earliest and fondest memories.    Did you know, that where a star ends up at the end of its life is relative to the mass it was born with. This piece is more representative of a white dwarf which means it has a mass of less than about 8 times of our Sun.  I had no idea what stage this star was at when I was painting it but it definitely takes me to a rich and vibrant violet/blue expanse.
