About the piece: This piece challenges the traditional notions of self-expression by utilising the human body as both canvas and subject.  The creation of this piece started by applying acrylic paint on the male subject spanning from the clavicle to the thighs.  This vibrant journey through colour symbolises the complexities of the human psyche, from the light and exuberant to the dark and profound. You can see the hair follicles and where the belly button lies.  The focal point is a striking 3D red smudge precisely where the heart resides anatomically and the ‘bleeding’ represents the raw intensity of  human emotions.  It invites the viewer to connect to the piece whether by the suggestion of love, loss or emotional turmoil.
